On October 23, CAAC commended and awarded the flight crew of Chang'an Airlines Flight 9H8409 (Captain Yang Zilong, co-pilots Cao Liang and Huang Weimian) for successfully handling a bird strike incident on August 26 and ensuring flight safety, in recognition of their outstanding performance.
On August 26, 2023, the B737-800/B-1163 aircraft operated by Chang'an Airlines on a flight from Wuzhou to Sanya experienced a bird strike during the take-off phase. The flight crew immediately stabilized the aircraft, accurately identified the problem, demonstrated excellent teamwork, and followed procedures to handle the abnormal situation effectively. Thanks to their actions, the flight safety was ensured. During the incident, the crew demonstrated high professional skills, good situational awareness, rigorous safe style of work, standardized crew resource management, and excellent psychological quality.
