On December 14, the 2023 Asia Pacific Region Innovation & Capability Building Symposium, co-hosted by CAAC, the Civil Aviation Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy, opened at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. With the theme of “Uniting the Strength of Innovation for Building a Seamless Sky”, the symposium showcased China achievements in civil aviation technological innovation, providing an important platform for enhancing exchanges and cooperation on civil aviation technology innovation in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The event lasted for two days.

Cui Xiaofeng, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, Michael Wong Wai-lun, Deputy Financial Secretary, the Hong Kong SAR Government, and Jack So Chak-kwong, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Victor Liu Chi-yung, Director-General of the Civil Aviation Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, and Ma Tao, Director of the Asia and Pacific Office of ICAO, gave keynote speeches.

This symposium is the first professional civil aviation exhibition jointly organized in Hong Kong by CAAC, the Civil Aviation Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy. It is also the largest civil aviation technological innovation exhibition held in Hong Kong. Nearly 60 domestic and international enterprises, research institutions and training organizations participated in the event, showcasing achievements in technological innovation in air traffic management, airport operations and aircraft operations. During the event, experts and scholars from civil aviation institutions across the Asia-Pacific region, gathered to discuss subject matters such as air navigation services, airport operations and civil aviation personnel training, exploring ways and methods to enhance civil aviation technological innovation. Additionally, over 1500 professional visitors registered to attend the exhibition.
