From December 14 to 15, the Seminar on Aviation Safety Oversight 2023 was held in Beijing, focusing on reviewing and stocktaking this year’s civil aviation safety work. The seminar discussed strategic approaches and measures for next year’s civil aviation safety, aiming to further strengthen safety oversight, cement the foundation of safety, and ensure the stable operation of civil aviation. Hu Zhenjiang, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, attended and addressed the meeting.

During the seminar, regional administrations of CAAC, along with entities such as the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, China Eastern Airlines Group, China Southern Airlines Group, Capital Airports Holding Company, Western Airports Group, the Air Traffic Management Bureau of CAAC, Civil Aviation University of China, Civil Aviation Flight University of China and the Civil Aviation Medical Center, briefed highlights of their safety work in 2023. Special emphasis was placed on sharing valuable experience, practices and recommendations for enhancing safety oversight. Based on recommendations from participating entities, officials from relevant CAAC departments exchanged ideas on relevant measures and strategic approaches. The seminar also included the dissemination and explanation of the Administration Measures for Implementing Civil Aviation Safety Responsibilities. 

A dedicated discussion on flight training was a key feature of the seminar. Representatives from airlines and flight training institutions engaged in in-depth communication and shared experience on pilot selection and training. Participants also proposed recommendations and opinions on adjustments to pilot training policies.
