In follow-up to the requirements of the 2024 National Civil Aviation Work Conference and the Aviation Safety Work Conference, the CAAC Leading Group for the Application of New Technologies at Airports convened a meeting on March 8 to make arrangements for preventing runway incursions. Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of CAAC and deputy head of the Leading Group for the Application of New Technologies at Airports, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Focusing on the prevention of runway incursions by ground vehicles and persons, the meeting noted the need to promote the application of new technologies at airports to eliminate the pain points and bottlenecks in current practices of airport operation and management by taking advantage of modern technologies, and promote high-quality development of airports. The meeting reviewed and approved in principle the Implementation Plan for the Promotion and Application of New Technologies for Preventing Runway Incursions by Ground Vehicles and Persons at Commercial Airports, and required that work be carried out to refine the document as a matter of urgency and have it published in accordance with established procedures as soon as possible.
