On May 17, the Airport Bird Strike Prevention Experience and Technical Exchange Meeting was held in Nanning, Guangxi, to implement the CAAC’s annual work deployment, promote the exchange of airport bird strike prevention experience and technologies, and further improve airport bird prevention capabilities. Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting reported on the overall situation of bird strike prevention work, introduced the building of an information platform for bird monitoring and early warning, released a sample program for airport bird strike and animal intrusion prevention, and announced the list of the first batch of identification agencies for residue of bird strikes on aircraft and the winners of the airport “Bird Strike Prevention” essay competition.
The meeting also released a series of documents, including guidelines for vegetation in soil areas in aircraft movement areas, sample plans for bird strike and animal intrusion prevention, bird strike species analysis and prevention information, a special edition of bird strike prevention essays, a collection of bird strike aircraft case studies, and manuals on new technologies and innovations in bird strike prevention.
Representatives from airports exchanged experience and practical cases of new technologies in bird prevention management. Experts from Nanjing Normal University gave lectures on bird strike prevention concepts and principal technologies employed.
