From November 21 to 22, the International Civil Aviation Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University held the International Civil Aviation Forum 2024 in Shanghai under the theme of "Enhancing Global Connectivity, Embracing Green Development". Participants included representatives from the International Civil Aviation Organization, China, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, China and other countries and regions, as well as chiefs from relevant domestic and international enterprises including CNAH Group, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, the Capital Airports Holdings, AVINEX, Hunnu Air and TransNusa Airlines, together with leaders of the Chinese civil aviation institutions, aviation industry experts and scholars, etc. In total, over 200 people attended the Forum.
Liu Fang, member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Secretary General of ICAO, served as chairman of the Forum. Liang Nan, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, Ding Kuiling, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and He Dongfeng, Chairman of COMAC attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches respectively.
By organizing speeches or panel discussions, the Forum focused on the following themes of common interests within the industry: how to improve the efficiency and safety of the aviation industry through technological innovation and infrastructure connectivity, how to take up the opportunities and respond to the challenges in the green transformation of the aviation industry as well as the strategies to strengthen industrial cooperation and international cooperation in aviation emission reduction, and technological innovation.
