Hu Zhenjiang Leads a Delegation to Participate in ICAO Aviation Security Week Ministerial Segment Held in Oman19/12/2024
From December 10 to 13, Hu Zhenjiang, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, led a delegation to participate in the ICAO Aviation Security Week 2024 Ministerial Segment and delivered a keynote speech. The meeting discussed and adopted the Muscat Declaration, which further extended and deepened the consensus on various aspects of aviation security among all countries, and injected new impetus into the better development of aviation security.
During the meeting, Hu Zhenjiang held talks with Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO, and David Pekoske, Administrator of the US Transportation Security Administration respectively. They exchanged views on topics including China's multi-layered cooperation with ICAO as well as China-US air transport cooperation, security surveys and innovation in aviation security screening. Before the meeting, Hu visited the Chinese Embassy in Oman and held talks with its charge d'affaires Wang Hongxu to exchange views on the development of Chinese civil aviation ties with Oman. Hu also communicated with the leaders of civil aviation authorities of Oman, Egypt, Papua New Guinea and other countries.
The ICAO holds an Aviation Security Week every year to bring together civil aviation authorities, aviation security departments and upstream and downstream industries of aviation to discuss and exchange policies and technologies, aiming to promote international aviation security. This is the first time for the ICAO to organize the Aviation Security Week outside its Montreal headquarters. Over 600 delegates from 78 countries attended the event.
