During the 2025 National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period (October 1-8), China's civil aviation industry handled a total of 19.138 million passenger trips, with a daily average of 239,200 trips. This represents a 3.2% increase in the average daily volume compared to the 2024 National Day holiday. The average daily passenger load factor reached 87.9%, up 3.5 percentage points from the 2024 National Day holiday. Notably, on October 1 alone, civil aviation transported 2.475 million passengers, exceeding the previous single-day record for any National Day holiday period.
During the holidays, civil aviation units strictly acted in line with the guidelines from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council regarding holiday transport services. They accurately assessed the situation, meticulously organized operations, and effectively responded to adverse factors such as Typhoon "Matmo", ensuring the safe, stable, and orderly operation of civil aviation throughout the period.
Domestically, the busiest air routes were those connecting China's four major city clusters—Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, and Chengdu-Chongqing. Major airports that ranked among the top ten nationwide in passenger throughput included Guangzhou Baiyun, Shanghai Pudong, Beijing Capital, Shenzhen Bao'an, Chengdu Tianfu, Beijing Daxing, Chongqing Jiangbei, Kunming Changshui, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, and Xi'an Xianyang. Meanwhile, passenger throughput at several smaller airports in tourist cities also saw significant growth, with airports in Xiangxi, Altay, Shiyan, Hami, Lvliang, Ankang, and Shihezi reporting an increase of over 50%.
Internationally, Chinese and foreign airlines operated an average of over 2,000 international passenger flights per day during the holiday, an 11.1% increase compared to the 2024 National Day holiday, signaling a post-summer travel peak in the international passenger air transport market. Traditional tourist destinations in East and Southeast Asia remained popular during the holiday, with a significant increase in flights. Additionally, there was a substantial rise in flights to neighboring countries such as Russia, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Nepal. Airlines also increased capacity on long-haul routes to destinations such as the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Egypt, and Spain to meet market demand.
