On March 3, Song Zhiyong, Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), met with John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), and his delegation in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on deepening communication and cooperation in the civil aviation field, and on better integrating Hong Kong's civil aviation into and serving the country's overall development strategy. Liang Nan, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, attended the meeting.
John Lee expressed gratitude to CAAC for its longstanding, strong support for Hong Kong's aviation development. He stated that the SAR will proactively align with the national 15th Five-Year Plan, seize new opportunities, and further enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness as an international aviation hub. He expressed hope for deepening cooperation with CAAC to jointly contribute to the civil aviation development of China.
Song Zhiyong stated that CAAC will thoroughly implement President Xi's important discourses on work related to Hong Kong and Macao, continue to support Hong Kong in consolidating and enhancing its status as an international aviation hub, and deepen professional and technical exchanges and cooperation in various areas of civil aviation. It is also important for CAAC to support Hong Kong to strengthen the alignment of the 15th Five-Year Plan, leverage its unique advantages in connecting the domestic and international markets, and jointly promote the high-quality development of civil aviation to serve the national development agenda.
Relevant department heads from the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and CAAC participated in the meeting.
