On April 8, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) held the Safety Committee (Enlarged) Meeting of April to thoroughly study the recent instructions and directives from the CPC Central Committee and State Council leadership on safety work, analyze the current safety operation situation of the industry, and systematically plan next steps for specific safety tasks. CAAC Administrator Song Zhiyong attended the Meeting and emphasized that the fundamental guidance and action principle for the industry must always be the series of important statements on work safety by President Xi Jinping and his important instructions on civil aviation safety. He called for correctly assessing the safety situation, maintaining a clear mind in safety work, further strengthening safety management, strictly enforcing execution, and ensuring effective implementation to guarantee safe and stable industry operations. CAAC Deputy Administrators Hu Zhenjiang, Han Jun, Ma Bing, and Liang Nan also attended the Meeting.
According to the meeting, in the first quarter, the industry completed a total of 3.771 million hours of transport flight operations and 1.406 million movements, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.2% and 3.4%, respectively. Total transport turnover reached 42.80 billion tonne-kilometers, and passenger volume reached 200 million person-trips, up by 10.9% and 6.5% year on year, respectively. At the same time, the industry maintained a stable safety situation in operation, achieving a good start in all work areas for the first quarter.
