Song Zhiyong Visits Beijing Capital International Airport to Extend Summer Heat Relief Support12/08/2026
On August 4, amid the peak of the summer travel rush, Song Zhiyong, CAAC Administrator and Secretary of the CPC Group of CAAC, visited Beijing Capital International Airport to conduct a frontline inspection and extend summer heat relief support to workers. He visited employees at frontline positions, encouraging everyone to remain committed to their duties and responsibilities, and to promote high-quality development through high-level safety. Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of CAAC and Chairman of the CAAC Trade Union, participated in the inspection.
Song Zhiyong visited the Ameco hangar of Air China to learn in detail about recent aircraft maintenance operations. At the "Guomen Yijia" shared rest area on the apron of Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport, he conversed with frontline employees from ground handling, security, maintenance, and other positions, showing keen concern for their working conditions and logistical support arrangements. He later visited the Southeast VHF Station of the CAAC North China Regional Administration, where he inspected the operation of VHF communication equipment and the conditions of the equipment room. He encouraged the staff members to deliver solid performance for the summer transport season. On behalf of the CPC Group of CAAC, Song Zhiyong expressed appreciation for the dedication and hard work of frontline employees and paid special tribute to those remaining steadfast at their posts amidst high temperatures. He noted that since the beginning of this year, the civil aviation sector has maintained an overall stable safety performance, sustained resilience in transportation output, further improved operational efficiency, achieved new breakthroughs in deepening reform, and reached new level in high-quality development. Such achievements are inseparable from the leadership and guidance of President Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee, as well as the hard work of every single employee. He emphasized that the tasks for the second half of the year remain arduous. The entire industry must thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping's important statements on work safety and his important instructions regarding civil aviation safety, firmly uphold the concept of safe development, and continue strengthening the foundation for aviation safety. He called on the industry to take proactive actions, advance reform with determination, continuously improve operational efficiency and service quality, and make every effort to accomplish all annual goals and tasks.
Frontline employees expressed that the care and support from the organization had greatly inspired them and boosted their motivation. They pledged to maintain a high level of commitment and energy, and step up effort to complete tasks related to the summer travel rush and subsequent operational support.
It is reported that the CAAC Trade Union issued a circular in early July launching a Summer Heat Relief Campaign across the industry. The circular requests trade unions at all levels to carry out diverse outreach activities tailored to local conditions, improve employees' working and living conditions, and expand both the coverage and effectiveness of the heat relief services, with priority given to outdoor workers and frontline staff engaged in summer travel rush operations under high temperatures. It also emphasizes leveraging the roles of staff service centers, "Workers' Homes", and service facilities, especially apron shared rest areas, to provide thoughtful support and safeguard employees' physical and mental well-being. The Summer Heat Relief Campaign has now been widely rolled out across the whole industry.
