CAAC Safety Committee Holds Plenary (Expanded) Meeting for August24/08/2026
On August 19, CAAC Safety Committee held the plenary (expanded) meeting for August to review operational risks and map out near-term safety priorities. CAAC Administrator Song Zhiyong attended the meeting and emphasized that it is imperative to gain a deep understanding of the guiding principles set forth by the recent meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, firmly adhere to the general principle of pursuing progress while ensuring stability, uphold safety as the top priority without wavering, pursue development without compromising safety, and enhance safety without impeding development, so as to effectively sustain the safe and stable operation of the civil aviation industry. Also present at the meeting were CAAC Deputy Administrators Hu Zhenjiang, Han Jun, Ma Bing, and Liang Nan.
Since the start of the summer travel season, the CAAC has faithfully implemented the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, coordinating summer civil aviation operations with responses to extreme weather conditions during the flood season, including thunderstorms, typhoons, and high temperatures. Actions included timely regional flight adjustments, ongoing hazard identification and mitigation, targeted rectification in the general aviation sector, and front-line fact-finding visits and outreach activities. Since July, the civil aviation market has seen steady growth in transport volume, carrying 114 million passengers cumulatively and operating an average of 19,500 flights per day, with the overall safety landscape remaining stable.
