Taxi

Taking a taxi is the most convenient way for visitors to travel around the metropolis of Beijing, especially in the middle of the night or in early morning. Drivers in Beijing know the major landmarks, and most of them understand some simple English. Taxis charge not only according to meter, but also for waiting time in traffic and driving at night. The flag-down fare is 13 yuan ($1.96) for the first three km and 2.3 yuan per km for the rest of the journey. It is recommended to ask for a receipt from the driver because the car number, company name, driver registration and complaint telephone number information are listed on it.

Subway

The Beijing Subway is a rapid transit rail network that serves the urban and suburban districts of Beijing municipality. Currently, there are 19 lines of subway including Line 1, Line 2, Line 4 (Daxing), Line 5, Line 6, Line 7, Line 8, Line 9, Line 10,Line 13, Line 14, Line 15, Batong Line, Fangshan Line, Changping Line, Yizhuang Line and Airport Line. Ticket Price: 3 RMB - 9RMB (Except for Airport Line).All lines now collect fares through an automatic fare collection system (AFC) that accepts electronic tickets and the Beijing Yikatong Smart Card, an integrated circuit card (ICC card) for commuters. Riders can purchase electronic tickets and add credit to Yikatong at ticket counters in every station. Yikatong is also accepted on many city buses.

Buses

There are more than 500 bus routes in the city. Basically, you can travel to any destination by using its huge but complex bus system. Most buses charge by distance andpassengers can pay by cash or Yikatong Smart Card.
