In China, the renminbi (RMB; code: CNY) is the official currency. All commercial banks exchange major foreign currencies and are open from 0830 to 1630 hours from Monday to Sunday. When exchanging money, please keep your receipt which will be required to reconvert any remaining RMB back to foreign currency when leaving China.
Major credit cards such as American Express, Visa, Master Card, etc. are accepted in many department stores and hotels. Cash withdrawal at ATMs is possible if your card is pre-authorised for overseas withdrawal.
