Wangfujing area has now become the city's central business district because of its easy access to major roads, high land prices and high density of retail and service business, as well as its high degree of population flow.

Wangfujing is worth wandering even if you're not interested in shopping. The endless neon strips and ebullient Beijing urban rich neatly contrast with the beauty of St. Joseph's Church (now Wangfujing Church). Wangfujing is also home to the Foreign Languages Bookstore (235 Wangfujing Dajie), and Wangfujing Bookstore (218 Wangfujing Dajie), some of the best places to pick up reading material. There area lot of stores at Wangfujing Dajie and most of the storekeepers speak several foreign languages.

Located in the eastern Chaoyang District, the area of Sanlitun Village is being accompanied by Worker's Stadium, embassy area and CBD. It is a fashion center for shopping, food and arts. Since the late 20th century, Sanlitun has developed to a high-ranking living and entertainment area of Beijing.

Shopping here is quite different and very enjoyable. Stores are distributed along inter-connected paths in the southern area. This layout, with no fixed route, makes shopping a discovery tour. There are many restaurants with different cuisines, ranging from innovative Chinese to American and from traditional Vietnamese to authentic Spanish Tapas. The food is consistent with the high-end brand surroundings. Art here is integrated into the details of life. It is very casual, not just hanging on the wall, but also appearing in the streets. You may see sculptures of local artists and world-renowned designer fashion displays on the street or on the square. There are also a large number of indoor art galleries, photography studios, fashion shows and photography exhibitions.
