Recently, CAAC issued the Statistical Bulletin of Civil Aviation Industry Development in 2023 (Statistical Bulletin), which provides a panorama of China’s civil aviation development in 2023 from 12 aspects, including transport aviation, general aviation, transport efficiency and economic performance, aviation safety and service quality, education and science and technology innovation, etc. According to the Statistical Bulletin, in 2023, the civil aviation industry’s transport operation steadily recovered, achieving new progress in high-quality development, with all operation data showing rapid growth compared with 2022.
Based on the Statistical Bulletin, the civil aviation industry in China registered a total traffic of 118.834 billion ton-km, passenger throughput, 1030.898 billion person-km and cargo and mail turnover, 28.362 billion ton-km, up by 98.3%, 163.4% and 11.6% respectively over 2022. Passenger traffic reached 619.5764 million, 146.1% higher than 2022 and the amount of cargo and mail handled stood at 7.3538 million tons, 21.0% higher over a year ago. Transport airlines in the industry completed 12.209 million hours of transport flight and 4.9219 million transport movements in total, representing an increase of 94.5% and 91.8% respectively compared with the previous year. Average daily utilization of registered transport aircraft stood at 8.12 hours, an increase of 3.77 hours from the previous year; passenger load factor of scheduled flights, 77.9%, up by 11.3% over 2022; and weight load factor of scheduled flights, 67.7%, up by 2.7% over 2022.
