The ceremony is simple yet grand. At about 8: 00, an arrangement was made for the broadcast of a short film showcasing the important milestones and landmark achievements throughout the whole construction and operation process of the airport. Following the broadcast, Fei Baoqi, Director General of the Tiananmen District Management Committee, gifted the airport with a national flag, the very one raised in Tiananmen Square on September 25, 2019. Yao Yabo, General Manager of the airport, accepted the national flag on behalf of the airport. Six armed police unfolded the national flag in an air of solemnity, attracting a round of loud applause from the crowd. At 08:12, the flag-raising ceremony officially began, and all of those present stood at attention. More than 100 staff representatives from the airport and its resident units took the lead in singing the national anthem, watching the bright-colored five-star red flag rising from the ground floor of the terminal to the central dome. All the attendees were filled with pride while singing the anthem, a gesture of their profound love for the motherland.

As per relevant sources, Daxing Airport has witnessed four major aircraft relocation by airlines since its official operation, and is capable of conducting Category-IIIB landing, known as “blind landing”. This year, the airport fulfilled its task of transporting pandemic prevention and control supplies, contributing to the full resumption of work and production. It also provided flight support services for some important occasions, including the Spring Festival travel rush and the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services. In particular, the airport has been operating to high standard despite the devastating impact of COVID-19 and the onset of adverse weather conditions. To date, it handled more than 10 million passengers in total. In the future, the airport will continue its efforts to nurture a new driving force for national development, promote the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and contribute to the strategic goal of building China into a civil aviation power.

Present at the event were chief pilot and chief engineer of CAAC, heads of CAAC departments and bureaus, CAAC regional administrations, CAAC ATM Bureau and the airport’s regulatory authority, representatives of the 15th Detachment of the Armed Police and 11 domestic airport groups, and leaders and representatives of Capital Airport Holding Company, Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and units involved in the airport’s construction.
